Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Welcome to the Collaborative Nursing program - we're thrilled to have you here!

Please take a moment to review the information outlined on this website to get you started on your nursing journey. We also recommend you review the Collaborative Nursing Year One registration map and strongly recommend you follow one of the suggested timetables outlined in the registration map.

General Orientation for First-Year Students

The program will be holding a general orientation for nursing students during your first NURS1003 class on Sept 5, 2025 and Sept 8, 2025. Details will be shared on the NURS1003 Canvas page, as well as the Nursing Student Community (NSC) Instagram account.

Pre-Practicum Requirements

Experiential learning is a key component of our nursing programs. Students will participate in practicum placements in all four years of their program. To be eligible for clinical experiences, students MUST meet specific requirements for safe practice within established timelines. These requirements include, but are not limited to; proof of immunizations, vulnerable sector check, N95 mask fit, CPR certification, as well as various certifications and forms. Students can find more detailed information on each requirement in the Practicum section of this website as well as in the FHS -Nursing Practicum course in our learning management system (LMS). New students will be added to this course as we get confirmation of acceptances. Students are strongly encouraged to begin the process of meeting these requirements immediately as it can take several weeks to months to collect and complete this information.

International Students should visit our International Students page for more information of completing these requirements.

Required Supplies

Please review the list of required supplies for both practicum and lab experiences. Students can also visit the campus bookstore for information on required textbooks and course material.

If you have any questions, please contact nursingprogram@ontariotechu.ca

Accommodation

If you will require in-class and/or practicum accommodation(s) due to a disability or medical condition, please visit Student Accessibility Services (SAS) for more information.

Please note: It is the student’s responsibility to ensure any required accommodations are in place before the start of practicum. We recommend speaking with SAS at least 1 term prior to the placement start.
