Practicum
Welcome! As part of your respective program's requirements, all students in nursing will participate in practicum experiences that take place concurrently with theoretical course work. These experiences are designed to prepare BScN generalists, who can practice within diverse settings across a variety of developmental stages, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds.
What is practicum? Practicum placement allows students to apply what they learn in coursework to the real-life clinical environment.
What settings are used for practicum? Settings used for practicum include but are not limited to Long Term Care facilities, Hospitals, Public Heath Units, Community services etc. Placements will take place primarily in the Durham Region and its immediately surrounding areas, including, but not limited to, Toronto, Peel, York, Northumberland and the Kawartha Lakes.
How is practicum arranged? All practicum placements are arranged through the Practicum Coordinators in the Nursing Program Office in conjunction with our practicum partners via an established process.
