Accommodation for Practicum

Should a student require accommodation for practicum due a disability (permanent or temporary) or medical condition, they must register with Student Accessibility Services to initiate the accommodation process. (We recommend at least 1 term prior where possible.) You will be connected to an Accessibility and Accommodation Specialist who will require documentation from a registered health care professional, such as a physician or psychologist, with clear identification of the functional limitations the student has and their impact on the practicum environment. Once received the specialist will connect with the Practicum Coordinator who will attempt to negotiate the required accommodation(s) with respective practicum partner(s).

It is the responsibility of the student to ensure any required accommodation(s) are in place PRIOR to the start of practicum. Failure to do so may result in the delay or cancellation of the student’s practicum and potentially jeopardize the student’s ability to successfully meet the competencies of the respective course.

PLEASE NOTE: In the event of permanent or persistent disability/injury, the student must register and/or renew their accommodation with SAS every semester.
