Research areas
In the Kinesiology field you will work with diverse faculty on the current research areas contributing to the field. These include:
- Asymmetry of hand preference as a model of chronic adaptive plasticity;
- Barriers to full participation in physical activity;
- Exercise induced neural adaptations;
- Mechanisms to enhance appropriate motor learning for injury prevention and rehabilitation;
- The reciprocal relationship between motor development and physical activity in both healthy and developmentally delayed children;
- The role of exercise in promoting neural function; and
- The role of the spinal cord in the production of rhythmic and non-rhythmic movements.
You will have the option of diverse research experiences in the kinesiology area ranging from intensive laboratory-based studies with human populations to interventional studies with special populations.
